How does One-on-One Coaching Engagement Work?

Generally, any Coaching Engagement would be for 3-6 months (Mutually decided between the client and the Coach), with a frequency of weekly or fortnightly or monthly Coaching session (again mutually decided, depending on the nature of the Goal and Client's demands on work-life priorities), each session lasting between 30 to 90 min, not more. In Organisational setting, there might be a sponsor involved (Usually, direct Reporting Manger or HR or CEO, depending on the Org. Policy) and the agreement would involve a commonly agreed definition of 'Success' of this Coaching engagement - between the Coach, Client (Coachee) and the Sponsor.

In many cases, the Sponsor would like a mid-term review and progress report from the Coach. However, the contents of the conversation between Coach and Coachee /Client would be confidential and not shared with anyone in the organisation. The end Results or Outcomes are tracked, in some cases. Sometimes, as a Coach, I would start with a base-line survey with key stakeholders on Coachee's behaviour and perception among stakeholders. This would be used as an input for the Coaching process (Anonymous data will be shared with the Coachee, after removing all the references to the source of this feedback)

I believe, ‘Everyone needs a Coach to be the best version of themselves’. When Leaders embody a Coach-like persona, their team members experience psychologically safe environment, that helps them unleash creativity & innovation in the organisation and as an individual they Grow, Inspire, Flourish and Thrive (G.I.F.T). My endeavour is to support these Leaders to be a reason (a G.I.F.T) for their teams to sustain High Performance and maximize potential at work and life! As a Mentor Coach and Coach Trainer, I’m focused on my students becoming a reason for their Client to experience this G.I.F.T at their work and in life!

However, I found it effective (and yielding tangible, sustainable results that permeate/percolate to the entire organisation), when we start at the TOP and work all the way down. I undertake Organisation-wide Change & Transformation initiatives / engagements, where Coaching is an integral part of the solution.
